AM-500C1G GaN Module
Peak Amplification, a division of Elytone Electronic Co., Ltd., today introduced the AM-500C1G, its flagship GaN-based single-channel audio amplifier module. Engineered to maximize power density and audio fidelity, the AM-500C1G delivers more than double the power output of the AM-200C1G without requiring bulky external heatsinks.
Designed for manufacturers developing top-tier audio systems that demand high power output and uncompromising thermal efficiency, the AM-500C1G integrates seamlessly into professional audio, high-end consumer Hi-Fi, commercial AV, and active loudspeaker designs.
High Power Density. Audiophile Precision.
At the core of the AM-500C1G is Infineon’s CoolGaN™ power transistor (IGC090S18S1) integrated with the IRS20957S Class-D controller IC. Paired with a half-bridge self-oscillating topology and external clock synchronization, the module achieves an ultra-low total harmonic distortion of 0.0007% THD (@ 10W, 4Ω, 1kHz), an extremely low output impedance of 6mΩ, and a noise floor of just 40μV (A-weighted)—delivering 1/20th the distortion and half the noise of conventional MOSFET-based Class-D amplifiers.
Operating at up to 94% efficiency (200 W – 500 W @ 4 Ω), the single-channel AM-500C1G generates minimal heat and scales up to 500W @ 4Ω (300W @ 2Ω, 250W @ 8Ω) without a heatsink. Its compact footprint—measuring L115.0 × W30.0 × H29.0 mm and weighing just 65g—is optimized for vertical carrier board placement, allowing system designers and engineering teams to increase multi-channel density in tight chassis spaces without thermal throttling or complex cooling setups.
Key Features:
- High Output Power (Heatsink-Free): Scalable up to 500W × 1 @ 4Ω (300W @ 2Ω, 250W @ 8Ω).
- Powered by Infineon CoolGaN™: Built with premium Infineon IGC090S18S1 GaN transistors and the IRS20957S controller IC architecture for maximum switching efficiency.
- Ultra-Low Distortion & Noise: 0.0007% THD (@ 1W, 4Ω, 1kHz), 6mΩ output impedance, and 40μV noise floor (A-weighted)—delivering 1/20th the THD and 50% lower noise compared to traditional MOSFET-based Class-D amplifiers.
- Compact Vertical Design: L115.0 × W30.0 × H29.0 mm footprint (65g) built for vertical mounting and high-density channel scaling.
- Flexible System Integration: Supports broad impedance matching (2Ω – 8Ω), bridgeable operation, and external clock sync.
- Thermal & System Protection: Integrated Over-Current Protection (OCP) and Over-Temperature Protection (OTP).
Executive Commentary
“With the AM-500C1G, we are proving that high power output doesn't require extra size or thermal complexity,” said Albert Yong, CTO of Audio/OEM at Elytone. “By pairing Infineon's CoolGaN™ technology with our vertical module architecture, we have reduced THD to 1/20th and cut the noise floor in half compared to traditional MOSFET-based Class-D designs—all while delivering 500W of audiophile-grade power without a heatsink.”
